Eventually vs. eventuellt

What is meant by the linguistic term, False Friend? Here is an example...

How would you interpret use of the word EVENTUALLY when you hear it used in English? Would you assume quite understandably that it means possibly or perhaps, because the Swedish word EVENTUELLT means just that if translated to English. 

However, eventually as used in English actually means in the future which would translate as slutligen or så småning om in Swedish. In a business context, it should be all too obvious how serious the potential consequences could be as a result of trusting this False Friend without correct reference to its true meaning.
